Alto Spots

Walk through Budapest’s Jewish quarter

Take a walk through the narrow winding street and discover one of Budapest’s oldest districts. Visit the Great Synagogue or Wallenberg memorial park.

Drinks at the Gozsdu Courtyard

The Gozsdu links a series of inner courtyards in a string of bars and restaurants, popular with both locals and tourists. Try the Divino or the Gozsdu terrace.

Explore the House of Terror

The House of Terror tells the story of Hungary under the Nazi and Soviet dictatorships. One can learn about the gulag, the propaganda or the detention practices.

Enjoy lunch at the Vintage Garden

The French-styled Vintage Garden, designed by the family behind Budapest’s iconic Laura Virág flower shop, is a feast for the eyes. Swing by for their burgers, salads and cocktails.

Shopping time at the Váci street

One of the most buzzing pedestrian streets of Budapest, the Váci utca is framed with a myriad of shops and boutique stores. If you get tired, unwind in one of the nearby cafés.

Explore Budapest’s ruin bars

The concept of a “ruin bar”, a conversion of an abandoned building into a rustic bar buzzing with nightlife, is highly popular in Budapest. The best ones are Szimpla Kert or Mazel Tov.

Independent Review

Xiaoling Liao

The Actor’s Hideout is designed to meet the needs of young families, couples or solo travellers wanting to stay at the most happening part of Budapest—the Jewish quarter, which is framed with a myriad of hip cafés, restaurants and bars.

The fresh and airy interior space is invigorated by a mezzanine arrangement with a secluded bedroom. I personally enjoyed the host’s efforts to infuse a welcoming feel by adding those complimentary extra-touches, be it fruits, complimentary coffee from the Nespresso machine or a lovely welcome.

One should know that the flat sits in a busy part of the city, but thanks to the courtyard, it is well-isolated from the street noise.
