Alto Spots

Eyes on the ground as you admire street tiles in Baixa

Portugal is famous for its magnificent and iconic street tiles, and there is nowhere better to appreciate the pavements at their most impressive than by taking a stroll around the beautiful Baixa area.

Enjoy your coffee in grand art deco surroundings

This is no ordinary café – culture and grandeur hang in the air. It opened at the start of the 20th century with the intention to sell only the finest Brazilian coffee. Nowadays it is the magnificent art deco interiors as much as the quality blends that will keep you coming back for more.

Ascend the Elevador de Santa Justa

Take a break from walking around the hilly streets of Lisbon and let this 19th century historic lift do the hard work for you. Enjoy the views and marvel at the historic construction as you are transported from the Rua de Santa Justa to the Largo do Carmo.

Cool down with an ice cream at Gelados Santini

Get ready to try the legendary ice cream at this stylish local ice cream parlour. With flavours ranging from zingy passionfruit, refreshing raspberry, and indulgent hazelnut, there is a flavour to suit every palette.

Sample the salted cod at Manteigaria Silva

Not many delis are illuminated by a chandelier, but this is no ordinary deli. Pick up cold meats, cheese, and wine to snack on in the evenings back at the apartment – and make sure you try the flavoursome salted cod!

Tuck into traditional Portuguese fare at A Licorista O Bacalhoeiro

Sample delicious and hearty Portuguese food at this unassuming local restaurant – it’s a must for sea food lovers! We love the cosy and inviting interior created by the arched stone walls. Get there early to avoid the queues!

Independent Review

Samantha Love

This beautifully authentic space guarantees an immersive cultural experience. I adore the delicately decorated tiles that run throughout the property, injecting life into the cool white-washed walls. One of my favourite spots is the kitchen counter, which is set into an exposed stone wall and framed by colourful tiles – it feels very Mediterranean and homely!

Large windows flood the stylish living area with natural light, and allow guests a view over the colourful street below. Indeed the vibrancy of Lisbon is mirrored in the design of this polychromatic home, which combines a warm terracotta palette with bursts of teal and gold.

For those with accessibility concerns, please be aware that there is no elevator in this building and apartment is located on the 3rd floor.
